About Our Sessions

Benefits of spiritual direction include:

  • Deeper prayer life
  • Learning practices that deepen your inner life
  • Increased trust in yourself to tend that inner life
  • Discernment of your life’s purpose right now

  • Personal agency in finding, claiming, and acting upon your identity, relationships, and purpose

Do I Need to Believe in God?

No. While I companion people who are part of a church, many of the people I see identify as Spiritual But Not Religious, unaffiliated with organized religion, agnostic or atheist. The one thing they have in common is that they’re open to discovery and yearn for a deeper, more meaningful life.

No Agenda but the Sacred

Each session is led by your own inner promptings as they reveal themselves in our times together; the time is yours to use in whatever way helps you to seek and respond to the sacred within.

Ethics & Confidentiality

As an ordained minister, the law requires me to report any and all suspected child, dependent adult or elder abuse. Legally, I must notify authorities immediately if I suspect abuse. If someone I’m companioning is threatening serious bodily harm to another person or persons, I must notify the police and the intended victim. If they are in danger of suicide, I will make every effort to get them to safety.

Supervision

As a spiritual companion, I’m required to work periodically with an experienced spiritual direction supervisor who helps me become a better spiritual companion. As a general practice in supervision, no names or specific identifying characteristics are shared.  I may share some general content from a session so I can learn what happened and grow as a spiritual companion.

These sessions are confidential and kept between my supervisor and me.

As a client, you would not be bound by any code of confidentiality. You are free to share anything from our sessions with another person.  If you have questions, please call or email me.
